Carrie laughs by the sea in Hastings

Allow me to introduce myself…

Hi there, my name is Carrie Le Grice and I’m a qualified wedding celebrant. I live in sunny Hastings, but I’m very happy to travel for a good time! That’s the basics covered, so let me tell you my origin story.

Our story begins on a cold, dark December evening. The magic of the season was upon us, lights everywhere, children counted down the days, friends gathered to celebrate.

And I’d been chained to my desk the whole day going back and forth trying to get a 250 word article for employees about pensions signed off. Welcome to the exciting and glamorous world of internal communications.

It was kind of a straw-that-broke-the-camel’s-back moment. I’ve always loved writing, but under the right circumstances. And pensions ain’t it.

I get joy from talking to people, finding out about them, their lives, the surprising little things you’d never know to look at them. Taking all of that and writing something that celebrates them, that makes them the centre of the world even if it’s just for a minute.

My job had been like that once, but not anymore. It was time for a change!

But I had no idea what it might look like, until fate (or the Instagram algorithm, whatever) stepped in and I saw an advert to train as a celebrant. It seemed so obvious I should be a celebrant I couldn’t believe I hadn’t realised sooner!

What made it so perfect you ask? Well, how about the fact that I:

  • Love writing

  • Love being really nosey and digging into people's lives

  • Love planning stuff so people have a great time

  • Love organising (let me tell you, I can organise the shit out of anything)

See? Perfect. Plus I also happened to have the inside scoop on what a celebrant led wedding was all about, as I had one when I got married and LOVED it! It was so special and fun, and our celebrant was awesome. So I was pretty confident I’d love it from the other side of things too.

Now skip to the end - the training is done, I’m qualified, I do in fact bloody love being a celebrant. It’s so fun to work with people who are cool, and weird, and know their own minds, to help them create a ceremony that they, and their people, will never forget.

If any of that sounds good to you, get in touch and let’s chat. I’d love to help you and your significant other be the centre of the world, if just for a day.

Bonus facts!!!

Bonus facts!!!

  • I hear song lyrics in everything and have a habit of bursting into song at random times. Now I think about it, I do the same with film quotes. Apologies in advance.

  • I’ve got a big problem with accumulating smiley face stuff. Seriously, there’s so much of it. The smileys control me now.

  • I’m a big fan of swearing. But I’ve got a two year old who is repeating everything, so I’m desperately trying to control myself!

  • Me and my husband have been together for so long it’s like we share one brain. We always know what the other is thinking or going to say. We finish each other’s sandwiches! (See, that’s a film quote and lyrics.)

  • In the last four years I’ve read over 200 books. Brag! If you’re a fellow avid reader feel free to friend me on Goodreads.
